Spending the Big Bucks
How often are you purchasing ebooks, strategy guides and software to build you IM business? Are you spending money left and right in hopes of finding the perfect internet business system? Do you find yourself hitting the BUY NOW button day after day, believing that you’re about to find the missing link in your moneymaking chain?
If you’re making investment after investment in IM direction and information, you’re not alone. Far too many Internet marketers are doing the exact same thing.
Those spending habits have a logical appeal. It’s perfectly reasonable to purchase new products and information to refine your already-successful business. There’s nothing crazy about acquiring new information and products in order to stay abreast of changes in the business. However, there is a problem with running on the BUY NOW treadmill if you’re not making any money.
There’s a significant difference between trying to stay on the cutting edge and gambling on every possible tool in hopes of making a business work.
You want to be the smart investor. You don’t want to spend yourself into bankruptcy before you build a real business.
The Right Kind of Purchase
How can you avoid dumping too much cash into things you don’t really need? It starts by building a rock-solid foundation. If you strip away all of the details, tricks, options and creative new ideas from Internet marketing, it’s a simple proposition.
You need a product to sell. You must have a way to sell the product. You need to secure traffic to the website you’ll be using to generate sales.
That’s it. All of your efforts should relate to one of those basic needs.
As such, you need to focus on building strength in all three areas. When you buy something, it must directly address one of those three foundational needs.
You must have a foundation that let’s you make money from home before you invest in extras, details, tricks or adjustments. When you have a foundation in place, you will make money. Then, you can pay for those new products with house money instead of digging a hole for yourself.
Building a Smart Foundation
You don’t need to spend big money to build a profitable foundation. Here’s a great approach to getting the job done.
- Learn how Internet marketing works on a holistic, big picture level. You can get that kind of perspective from someone with successful IM experience.
- Make traffic a top priority. Traffic is one of the three core needs mentioned above. It’s also the most important one you’ll address. Until you have adequate traffic, you won’t be able to find out if your products are attractive or if your copy is converting. You need as much traffic as you can get–and you need it quickly.
- Discover a continuing source of support and guidance. An ebook can be great. Solid tutorial videos are a great idea. However, developing a real relationship with a successful mentor is much more valuable than any ebook or video series. Quality ongoing coaching makes the learning curve less steep and prevents you from wasting time, energy and resources on things you don’t need.
- Don’t overexpose yourself. Find a way to accomplish those objectives without putting yourself at risk of substantial loss. Look for opportunities to secure the right information at a reasonable price. Look for a business coaching program or mentoring arrangement that doesn’t cost more than you can afford.
